Among the Candida species, Candida parapsilosis has a unique mitochondrial respiratory network. The addition of inhibitors of the respiratory pathways in three clinical isolates of C. parapsilosis with high (
2- µg/ml) MICs of caspofungin significantly (fivefold) decreased caspofungin MICs but did not change fluconazole MICs.
