The MICs of ascosteroside and nikkomycin Z are the lowest concentrations required to reduce the growth of Candida by 50% compared to the growth of untreated cells. The effect on growth relative to that on the growth of untreated control cells was recorded visually after 4 h at 30°C. The effect on macromolecular synthesis was determined as described in Materials and Methods.
